FAQ’s
Q: Buying or Selling Guns Online ~ Is it legal?
A: Yes, it is legal as long as you are working with a Federally licensed dealer, someone who holds a current FFL (Federal Firearms License). For instructions on how to safely do this, please visit our “Policies” section.
Q: Firearm Care & Maintenance ~ What can I do/not do?
A: You should ALWAYS read the owner’s manual* that came with the gun and do ONLY what is recommended by the manufacturer. Depending on the type of gun and how it was made, care and maintenance can vary a great deal, similar to cars. You should NEVER go farther than the manufacturer suggests for your firearm! We have seen many firearms suffer at the hands of over-zealous owners who were certain they knew what they were doing and felt they were doing themselves a favor by going the extra mile. Not a good idea as it can have long term and/or dangerous (potentially fatal) consequences such as improper or altered re-assembly, incorrect function, and ultimately can end up inoperable and/or costing you extra money in the long run.
*If you don’t have the owner’s manual, contact the manufacturer. Manufacturers frequently have them available for download on their website for free. If not, let us know and we can help you find one for your gun.
Q: Can I bring parts for you to install?
A: Yes you can, but understand this can be troublesome for you as the gun owner. In most cases we can get the part for you at the same price or less than you would pay elsewhere. Then we can stand behind the part with the assurance that if it fails, we will go to our supplier and work on your behalf to get it replaced, in many cases at no charge to you. We cannot offer this assurance on any parts provided by the customer, and sometimes, it could end up costing you more in the long run. We realize the economy has been tough on everyone. The best thing to do is be upfront with us so we can help you make the best decision that will benefit you (and your gun) in the long run.
Q: What parts of a firearm can be coated with a protective finish such as DuraCoat?
A: All typical firearms related materials, including but not limited to: alloys, aluminum, plastics including nylon, carbon steel, stainless steel and wood. This would include optics and accessories. Please contact us if you have questions. We are happy to look at your setup individually.
Q: Does coating my firearm/scope void the warranty?
A: No. A protective finish does not void the warranty of either firearms or optics if applied properly.
